Consent

Before commencing any treatment, our physiotherapist will provide you with:

- Potential Benefits: An overview of the potential positive outcomes of the treatment.
- Risks and Side Effects: Information about any possible risks, complications, or side effects associated with the treatment.
- Alternative Options: Discussion of alternative treatments or therapies available, including the option to not proceed with treatment.
2. Mental Capacity:
- If a client has an impairment of the mind or brain which may cause them to lack capacity to make informed decisions about their treatment or care, a mental capacity assessment will be undertaken.
- If a client is assessed not to have capacity to make this decision, a discussion will follow with the client's next-of-kin to decide on what is in their best interests, and how to proceed.
3. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Ask questions about your treatment and receive clear, understandable answers.
- Make informed decisions regarding your treatment, including the right to refuse or withdraw consent at any time.
- Have a family member, friend or other trusted individual present throughout any session.
- Review your treatment plan and request changes if necessary.
4. Documentation of Consent
Consent will be documented in notes written by the treating physiotherapist.
5. Revoking Consent
You have the right to revoke your consent at any time before or during the treatment. If you choose to withdraw consent, we will respect your decision and discuss alternative options with you.
